Sundarijal ("beautiful water") lies on the north-eastern edge of the Kathmandu Valley, at an entrance to Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park. A stone stairway climbs past waterfalls and a reservoir that supplies Kathmandu. It is the starting point for the walk to Chisapani and the Helambu trek, and the Melamchi water tunnel ends here.
