Helambu is a region of terraced hills, forests and Buddhist villages in Sindhupalchok, north-east of Kathmandu. It is home to the Hyolmo (Yolmo) people, known for their monasteries, hospitality and orchards. Villages such as Tarkeghyang (about 2,600 m) and Melamchi Gaon sit on ridges with views north to the Himalaya.
