Mu Gompa stands at about 3,700 m near the head of the Tsum Valley, a few days' walk from the Tibetan border. It is one of the largest monasteries in Tsum, home to monks who keep up the valley's Buddhist traditions.

Quick answer: Most Tsum treks stay a night near Mu Gompa before returning down the valley. The Manaslu area is restricted: you need a restricted area permit and a licensed guide (solo trekkers can get the permit since 22 March 2026).
