Samdo is a high village at about 3,875 m on the Manaslu Circuit, a few hours' walk from the Tibetan border. Many of its families are of Tibetan origin. It is the last village before Dharamsala and the Larkya La.

Quick answer: Spend an extra day here to acclimatise, with a hike towards the border trail or the ridge above the village. The Manaslu area is restricted: you need a restricted area permit and a licensed guide (solo trekkers can get the permit since 22 March 2026).
