Poon Hill (3,210 m) is a grassy summit above the village of Ghorepani, and probably the most famous sunrise viewpoint in Nepal. From its lookout tower, a huge panorama stretches from Dhaulagiri (8,167 m) across the Kali Gandaki to Annapurna South, Hiunchuli and Machhapuchhre.

Getting there

Most treks start with a drive from Pokhara to Nayapul or Ulleri, then walk up through rhododendron forest to Ghorepani. From Ghorepani, climb Poon Hill before dawn, then continue via Tadapani and Ghandruk or return to Pokhara.
