Monjo is a village at about 2,835 m on the Dudh Koshi, a few hours above Phakding. Just beyond it, at the Jorsalle checkpoint, trekkers enter Sagarmatha National Park and show their permits.

Quick answer: Some itineraries stay in Monjo instead of Phakding to shorten the steep climb to Namche the next day.
