Machhermo is a small group of lodges at about 4,470 m on the trail to Gokyo. Many trekkers spend a night here to acclimatise, and in season a Himalayan Rescue Association post offers altitude advice. Local legend links the valley with yeti sightings.
Quick answer: Machhermo is a day's walk from Dole and half a day from Gokyo. Take an afternoon walk up the ridge for views of Cho Oyu.
