Dharahara, also called Bhimsen Tower, has been a symbol of Kathmandu since Prime Minister Bhimsen Thapa built the original in 1832 at Sundhara. Damaged in the 1934 earthquake, it was rebuilt, then collapsed again in the 2015 earthquake. A new Dharahara was inaugurated on 24 April 2021.

Quick answer: The new tower stands beside the old base in Sundhara, a short walk from New Road and Ratna Park. Buy a ticket for the viewing deck for wide views over the city and, on clear days, the Himalaya.
