On 24 April 2021, the eve of the sixth anniversary of the 2015 earthquake, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli inaugurated the rebuilt Dharahara tower in Sundhara, central Kathmandu. The original 19th-century tower, Bhimsen Stambha, had collapsed in the 2015 earthquake, killing many people who were inside. Work on the new tower continued for several years after the inauguration.
In short: the rebuilt Dharahara was inaugurated on 24 April 2021, a symbol of Kathmandu's recovery from the 2015 earthquake.
