Besisahar is the headquarters of Lamjung district, at about 760 m on the Marsyangdi. It is the traditional starting point of the Annapurna Circuit, about 5–6 hours by road from Kathmandu or 3–4 hours from Pokhara.

Quick answer: Many trekkers now take a jeep from Besisahar to Chame or further, skipping the dusty road sections. Check your ACAP permit and stock up here.
