For mountain views without a trek, the Chandragiri cable car is one of the easiest outings from Kathmandu.

Quick answer: the cable car opened in December 2016. It runs about 2.4 km from Thankot, on the south-western edge of the valley, to Chandragiri Hills at about 2,551 m, in around 9–10 minutes. At the top are the Bhaleshwor Mahadev temple, viewpoints and the Chandragiri Hills Resort.

Tips
