Khaptad National Park, in the hills of far-west Nepal, protects a rolling plateau at around 3,000 m of grassy meadows (patans), oak and fir forests and wildflowers. It is closely linked with Khaptad Baba, a hermit who lived here for decades and whose ashram is still visited by pilgrims. It is one of the least-visited parks in Nepal.
Quick answer: Khaptad is reached by flying to Dhangadhi or a regional airstrip and driving to the trailhead, then trekking 2–3 days to the plateau. Best time: April–May for flowers and September–November for clear views. Facilities are very basic; plan with a local agency.
