In the far west of Nepal, Bardia National Park (about 968 km²) is the largest and wildest park in the lowland Terai, and the best place in Nepal to see a wild Bengal tiger. It is also home to one-horned rhinos, wild elephants, swamp deer, gharials and the rare Gangetic river dolphin.

Quick answer: Bardia is about 2–3 hours by road from Nepalgunj (1-hour flight from Kathmandu). Stay in Thakurdwara for jungle walks, jeep safaris and river trips. Best time: October–April; February–May for tigers. Allow 3–4 nights.
