Kanchenjunga (8,586 m), the third-highest mountain in the world, rises on the border between Nepal and Sikkim in India. Its two base camps on the Nepal side, Pangpema (north base camp, about 5,140 m) and Oktang (south side, about 4,730 m), are reached by one of the most remote and rewarding treks in the country.
