On 29 July 2022, Global Tiger Day, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba announced that Nepal had 355 wild tigers, nearly three times the 121 counted in 2010. At the 2010 St Petersburg tiger summit, tiger range countries had promised to double wild tigers by 2022, a goal known as Tx2; Nepal far exceeded its own target of 250.

In short: Nepal's tiger count rose from 121 in 2010 to 355 in 2022, one of the world's great conservation success stories.
