Phewa Lake (also spelled Fewa) is the heart of Pokhara and one of the largest lakes in Nepal. On calm mornings, the snow peaks of the Annapurna range and Machhapuchhre reflect in its still water, and colourful wooden boats drift across to the island shrine of Tal Barahi.
The Lakeside district along its eastern shore is Pokhara's main area for hotels, cafés and bars.
Quick answer: Phewa Lake is in the centre of Pokhara. Hire a boat to Tal Barahi Temple, paddle at sunrise or sunset for reflections, hike to the World Peace Pagoda on the southern shore, and relax in Lakeside. Best time: October–March.
