Patan Museum occupies Keshav Narayan Chowk, a restored courtyard of the royal palace on Patan Durbar Square. Opened in 1997 after restoration with Austrian support, it is widely considered the best museum in Nepal, with superb bronze sculptures, ritual objects and clear explanations of Hindu and Buddhist art.

Quick answer: Allow 1.5–2 hours. The museum ticket is separate from the Patan Durbar Square entry. Have lunch in the garden café behind the palace.
