Namo Buddha, on a hilltop east of Dhulikhel, is one of the most sacred Buddhist sites in Nepal. According to legend, a prince who would become the Buddha in a later life gave his body to a starving tigress and her cubs here. A stupa marks the spot, and a large Tibetan Buddhist monastery stands on the ridge above, with views of the Himalaya.

Quick answer: Namo Buddha is about 1.5–2 hours by road from Kathmandu, or a 3–4 hour hike from Dhulikhel. Visit the stupa, the monastery and the shrine of the tigress. You can stay overnight in the monastery guesthouse.
