North of Pokhara, near the village of Batulechaur, two limestone caves make an easy half-day trip. Mahendra Cave has stalactites, stalagmites and a small Shiva shrine. Nearby, the Bat Cave (Chamero Gufa) is home to thousands of bats; you can squeeze out through a narrow exit at the far end if you're feeling adventurous.

Quick answer: The caves are about 20–30 minutes from Lakeside by taxi. Each has a small entry fee. Bring a torch and shoes with good grip; the Bat Cave exit involves some scrambling.
