Kyanjin Gompa, at about 3,870 m, is the last village in the Langtang Valley, a broad glacial valley surrounded by Langtang Lirung and other snow peaks. It has a small monastery, a cheese factory started with Swiss help in the 1950s, and two classic viewpoints: Kyanjin Ri and the higher Tserko Ri.
The valley was devastated by an avalanche in the 2015 earthquake, which buried Langtang village, and its people have rebuilt with great determination.
Quick answer: Kyanjin Gompa (about 3,870 m) is reached on the Langtang Valley trek (7–10 days from Kathmandu) from Syabrubesi. Climb Kyanjin Ri for views and try the yak cheese. Check current access with us: the road and Syabrubesi trailhead were hit by the August 2026 Bhotekoshi flood.
