Kakani is a forested ridge about 23 km north-west of Kathmandu, at around 2,000 m, on the road towards Trishuli. On clear days its views stretch across the Ganesh Himal, Langtang and neighbouring ranges. It is a popular escape from the city for Nepali families, with strawberry farms, forest walks and a few simple resorts.
