Jomsom, at about 2,720 m in the Kali Gandaki valley, is the headquarters of Mustang district and the gateway to Muktinath and Upper Mustang. It sits between Dhaulagiri and Nilgiri in the deepest gorge in the world, and is famous for the strong wind that blows up the valley every afternoon.
