Chhomrong (also spelled Chomrong), at about 2,170 m, tumbles down a steep hillside above the Chhomrong Khola. It is the last major village before the Annapurna Sanctuary, with stunning views of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli and Machhapuchhre. Every trekker to Annapurna Base Camp remembers its long stone staircases, in both directions.

Quick answer: Chhomrong (about 2,170 m) is on the Annapurna Base Camp trek, about a day from the road head near Jhinu. Stay in its lodges, enjoy the views, and prepare for the gorge to the Sanctuary. ACAP permit required.
