Panchakarma treatment in Nepal

Panchakarma, meaning "five actions", is Ayurveda's traditional cleansing programme. Under the supervision of a qualified practitioner, it combines a special diet, internal and external oil therapies, herbal steam and a series of cleansing procedures, followed by a gentle recovery period. A full programme usually takes from one to three weeks.

We arrange stays at established Ayurvedic centres in Kathmandu and Pokhara. Panchakarma is demanding, so a consultation is required first; tell the practitioner about any health conditions, and do not plan a trek straight afterwards.

The stages

  1. Preparation: a special diet, internal and external oil therapies and herbal steam.
  2. Cleansing: the main Panchakarma procedures, chosen by the practitioner.

A full programme usually lasts one to three weeks. See our Panchakarma programme.

Before you book

  • A consultation is required; the programme is not suitable for everyone.
  • Share your medical history and medicines with the practitioner.
  • Plan rest days afterwards; don't start a trek immediately.

Important

Panchakarma is a traditional wellness practice and not a substitute for medical care. Consult your doctor if you have health concerns.
