Nagarkot sunrise and sunset
Nagarkot, at about 2,175 m on the eastern rim of the Kathmandu Valley, is the most popular place near Kathmandu to watch the sun rise and set over the Himalaya. On clear days the view stretches along a long line of snow peaks, from the Langtang range towards Everest in the far east.
Drive up in the afternoon for sunset, stay the night, and wake early for sunrise. Next morning, walk down to the ancient temple of Changunarayan or continue to Bhaktapur.
