The two main seasons for the Everest Base Camp trek offer different experiences. Here's how to choose.
Quick answer: autumn (late September–November) has the clearest, most stable weather and the best mountain views, but colder nights later in the season. Spring (March–May) is warmer, with rhododendrons lower down and the buzz of Everest expeditions camped at base camp, but more afternoon cloud.
Side by side
| Spring | Autumn | |
|---|---|---|
| Months | March–May | Late September–November |
| Views | Good mornings, more haze later | Clearest of the year |
| Temperature | Warmer | Colder as winter approaches |
| Base camp | Tent city of expeditions | Quiet, few tents |
| Flowers | Rhododendrons lower down | Autumn colours |
| Crowds | Busy | Busiest in October |
Which to choose
For the best views, choose autumn. To see the expedition base camp and enjoy warmer days, choose spring. November and late April are good compromises.
