Wetlands of Nepal
Nepal has ten wetlands on the Ramsar list of wetlands of international importance, from lowland marshes to high Himalayan lakes. The first, Koshi Tappu, is one of the best birding sites in South Asia. Others include Beeshazari Lake in Chitwan, Ghodaghodi Lake in the far west, the lake cluster of Pokhara Valley, including Begnas and Rupa, and the high lakes of Rara, Phoksundo, Gokyo and Gosainkunda.
Winter (November–March) brings migratory ducks, waders and cranes to the lowland wetlands.
