Shivapuri and Nagi Gompa Day Hike
The Shivapuri and Nagi Gompa day hike is the best forest walk from Kathmandu. Start at Budhanilkantha, home of the great sleeping Vishnu, enter Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park and climb on stone steps and forest trails to Nagi Gompa, a peaceful Buddhist nunnery at about 2,300 m with views over the valley and, on clear days, Langtang and Ganesh Himal. Strong walkers can continue to Shivapuri Peak (2,732 m), the highest point on the valley rim.
