Canyoning in Nepal

Canyoning means descending a river gorge by abseiling down waterfalls, sliding down natural rock chutes and jumping into deep pools. Two of Nepal's best areas are Jalbire, in the Trishuli valley near Mugling, about 3–4 hours from Kathmandu, with abseils of up to about 25–30 m, and the Bhote Koshi valley, Nepal's adventure hub, with several canyons close to the rafting and bungee sites.

No experience is needed for beginner canyons: qualified instructors teach you the techniques and provide wetsuits, helmets, harnesses and ropes. Canyoning is not run during the monsoon, when the water is too high.
