## Canyoning in Nepal

Canyoning means descending a river gorge by abseiling down waterfalls, sliding down natural rock chutes and jumping into deep pools. Two of Nepal's best areas are **Jalbire**, in the Trishuli valley near Mugling, about 3–4 hours from Kathmandu, with abseils of up to about 25–30 m, and the **Bhote Koshi valley**, Nepal's adventure hub, with several canyons close to the rafting and bungee sites.

No experience is needed for beginner canyons: qualified instructors teach you the techniques and provide wetsuits, helmets, harnesses and ropes. Canyoning is not run during the monsoon, when the water is too high.
