# Everest Base Camp, Day by Day

This is the classic rhythm of an Everest Base Camp trek from Lukla, with two acclimatisation days. Your own itinerary may add rest days or side trips.

**Quick answer:** A typical trek takes about 12 days from Lukla and back, with acclimatisation days in Namche and Dingboche, base camp on day 8 and Kala Patthar sunrise on day 9.

**Day1**2,610 m### Fly to Lukla, walk to Phakding

A short mountain flight, then 3–4 hours downhill to the Dudh Koshi.

**Day2**3,440 m### Phakding to Namche Bazaar

Cross the Hillary Bridge and climb to the Sherpa capital.

Hike to Hotel Everest View for your first Everest view.

**Day4**3,860 m### Namche to Tengboche

Visit the monastery for evening prayers.

**Day5**4,410 m### Tengboche to Dingboche

Into the Imja valley beneath Ama Dablam.

Climb part of Nangkartshang for views of Makalu.

Walk to base camp, return to Gorak Shep.
